Six Degrees of Separation

Event sponsor (multi-national professional services firm) Deloitte U.S chose eight women newsmakers and historical figures who changed the world in some way -- ie., Benazir Bhutto, JK Rowling, Katharine Graham, Maya Angelou. We asked the businesswomen to describe how they personally or professionally connected to one of the eight personalities. The women shared hundreds of anecdotes on the green arrows you see in the photo above, and linked them with their own portraits, sketched live by professional caricaturists.

We heard dramatic personal accounts of their encounters and life-changing “brushes with fame.” One woman recounted her 14-hour bus ride to Alabama, just to hear poet Maya Angelou read her latest work. We tailor these exercises to your company’s needs.

Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit

Another year, Deloitte asked guests to tell us about the importance of securing a mentor or sponsor as a career advantage for women in business. With visual interpretations illustrated by professional scribes, we heard illuminating testimonies from some of the most accomplished women in business today. Some of our interviews included: entrepreneur Tyra Banks (pictured above) Spanx CEO Laurie Ann Goldman, and fashion mogul Tory Burch.

Leadership and Inclusion

As an exercise in self-assessment at Deloitte University in Dallas,Texas, conference-goers were asked to finish the following sentences in their own handwriting and complete cards connected to their sketched portraits:

I couldn’t have done it without….”
"I was the first to…."
"I had to overcome…."

Guests considered who really made a difference in their careers, and how it transformed them into who they are today. Click on the card above – revealing one extraordinary Los Angeles executive’s significant firsts.
